Viral hepatitis B and C remain important public health concerns in Cambodia, requiring strengthened capacity for early screening, diagnosis, treatment, and referral of affected patients. In Banteay Meanchey Province, viral hepatitis services at the provincial and referral hospital levels need further development and strengthening to ensure patients can access appropriate, timely care.

In response, the Cambodian National Viral Hepatitis Program requested collaboration with Dreamlopments (DLP) Foundation to support establishing and strengthening viral hepatitis services in Banteay Meanchey Province, where DLP is already implementing the M-FUND project. This collaboration provides an opportunity to build on existing health-sector partnerships and project experience to improve the capacity of healthcare providers and strengthen service delivery.

As part of this collaboration, DLP supported the “Hepatitis B and C Viral Hepatitis Elimination Program” training, conducted on 1–2 October 2026 at Classy Hotel & Spa in Banteay Meanchey Province. The training focused on strengthening the knowledge and practical capacity of healthcare providers from Mongkol Borei Referral Hospital and Poipet Referral Hospital in the areas of screening, testing, diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate referral of patients with hepatitis B and C.

The project aims to contribute to the development of sustainable viral hepatitis services in Banteay Meanchey by strengthening healthcare providers' capacity, improving coordination between relevant health facilities and programs, and supporting access to quality hepatitis B and C services for the local population.
