Behind

About 1 million migrants living in Thailand
lack access to state-run health coverage

With no access to state-run health protection scheme, migrants' quality of life is at risk. Many migrants are reluctant to seek treatment when they fall ill for fear of incurring cost of care they cannot afford. Others use any saving available, borrow money, sell assets, and yet remain unable to cover all costs of care, which eventually lead them to shoulder financial burden that they may never recover from.

One of the targets of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 3 is to "achieve universal health coverage". According to SDG Target 3.8, this includes "financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all".

Everyone, regardless of legal status and documentation, deserves equitable healthcare protection.

M-FUND is a low-cost, non-profit health fund for migrants. Since 2017, M-FUND has covered over 61,000 outpatient consultations and 10,000 hospital admissions.
